May 10 (Tuesday) - Dr. Harold Koopowitz will be speaking on Creation of the New Miniture Paphiopedilums 7:30PM at Arlington Senior Center, 27 Maple Street, Arlington Center, MA

May 15 (Sunday) - Regular meeting for Amherst Orchid Society will have Carri Raven Riemann of Orchidpile speaking on Phals. Her topic for speaking will be The Brightest with an Eye on Taiwan. She will be selling orchids at the meeting and will be taking pre-orders also. 2:00 PM

June 2011

June 4 (Saturday) - Glen Deckers Piping Rock Orchids is having a picnic. He also will have Alan Koch from Gold Country Orchids selling orchids.

June 12 (Sunday) Note: this is on the 2nd Sunday of the month. The Amherst Orchid Society annual picnic at the Gray residence in Williamsville, Vermont. Will provide hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks. Come anytime after 1:00 pm
TO THE GRAY'S RESIDENCE FROM THE NORTH: Take I-91 South to Exit 4. At end of ramp take a left. This is Route 5. Proceed 2.3 miles. Turn right onto East/West Rd. Travel 2.0 Miles to Dummerston Center. At 4 way stop signs, continue driving straight ahead. After going 2.5 miles, you will come to a covered bridge.Cross the bridge and turn right onto Route 30. Go 1.9 Miles North on Route 30. Take a left hand turn and proceed 3 miles to the Town of Williamsville. Cross Cement Bridge and take a left hand turn. Go 0.3 mile to Baker Brook Road on the right (across from the Post Office.) Go 1.3 Miles on Baker Brook Road, always keeping brook to your left. Our house is on the right and is grey with black trim. In front are signs for #260 and Baker Brook Orchids.
TO THE GRAY'S RESIDENCE FROM SOUTH: Take I-91 North to Exit 1. (Brattleboro, VT) . At the bottom of the ramp go right. Go through 4 sets of lights. After the 4th set of lights, follow signs for Route 30. The signs will lead you around a large triangular circle. After a left hand turn at one “Corner”stay in the right hand lane. This will turn into a right-turn-only lane heading out of the circle. The road goes gently downhill through the Retreat Hospital and then opens up into Route 30.) Continue on Route 30 For 8 Miles (After 6 miles you’ll pass a covered bridge on the right.) Take the left turn to Williamsville-South Newfane. After 2 miles you will cross a cement arch bridge. Take a left at the end of the bridge. You are now in Williamsville. Go past the Fire House/General Store on the right to the post office (Red with white trim).Go right on Baker Brook Road for 1.3 miles, keeping the brook on your left. Our house is on the right and is grey with black trim. In front are signs for #260 and Baker Brook Orchids

July 2011

July 24 (Sunday) - Verda Dale has invited us to her house for a party/get together. Her only request is that this is a potluck so please bring a dish of something yummy.
Directions to Verda Dale's House: Verda lives on one of the streets across the South Amherst Common from the Munson Library. Her house sets back from the street behind a brown fence. Parking in the driveway on the south side of the street. Her street address is 296 Pomeroy Lane.

August 2011

August 21 (Sunday) - Gathering at Keith Tibbitts house - 1:30PM to 4PM.
From Northampton take Route 9 West to Cummington, MA. It's about 20 miles. Near center of Cummington you will cross a steel arched bridge. From this point travel another 5 miles and turn Right at a sign that says “West Cummington.” You will now be on West Main Street. Go about 0.2 miles and turn Right onto Bush Road. (There is a yellow house on the corner.) Go about one mile to a fork in the road. Take the Left fork. A short distance from this point you will see a large green mailbox (#95) next to the driveway leading to the Tibbett's home. Stay to the left and park near the greenhouse. Bring snack food to share.

October 16 (Sunday) - It's membership renewal month along with a Registered Judging at our meeting for the American Orchid Society. They will look at table and tell us about the good and the bad of the plants and if any are worthy of being judged for a award.
